There are other rites of passage that are related to reclaiming your life as in after a violent or traumatic event like recovering from a legal or medical trauma. Birthing Party

A birthing party is a sophisticated and creative “baby shower” to honor and celebrate womanhood. It is a big party engaging and exploring the power of being a women about to give birth. Using the power of art making, writing, singing and drumming, party participants will explore and experience the creative power inherent in being a woman.  At a Birthing Party, participants will remember and celebrate what it means to be a woman living in community. The power of birth, natural to women, will be acknowledged and revered.  This is a woman-based mini-fest celebrating being on the cusp of new life: physically, spiritually, symbolically and emotionally.

BIRTHING PARTY – $499.00
Brief ($175) – The brief experience includes the history of women’s birth process and two specialized art experiences for up to 20 people.
Expanded ($499) – The large expanded party includes twenty personalized hand-crafted art invitations, a specialized set of instructructions for attendees, hand-built clay birth sculptures, four rituals for women’s new growth, three short sound and voice activities, writing and reflection, and a rhythm or drum circle.

Memorial

We all at one time or another come face to face with death. The backdrop of illusion says that death is somewhere out there. But a more encompassing reality is that death is all around us and at one point or another death will take what is loved and a void or vacuum will result. Often when we are dealing with issues of loss and death it is a time of high emotions; sadness, anger, despair, numbness, and anxiety may  stir and sometimes even overcome a person. A carefully crafted memorial of a loved one can restore peace, express pain and sadness and help to channel feelings of grief and bereavement ultimately restoring balance and centeredness. Gathering photos, mementos, symbolic gifts, images, visions and values to bring together in a public or private manner facilitates a sensitive way to remember. Constructing a verbal dialogue about the loved one can support and promote the healing of wounds and the recollection of things past. There is no real substitute for a memorial service which brings honor to this important loss event.  Death Memorials are a solid and good way to process what has been lost.

Memorial Event

Re-Parenting

Re-Parenting is a planned event where an individual intentionally chooses to initiate a relationship with healthier, more understanding, and loving parents. Chosen individuals will receive a formal invitation to be present as parents or witnesses. The individuals invited to be “stand ins” for the parents one was born with will receive training and preparation for this event. Re-parenting is claiming new parents at a fundamental level.  A life changing event, re-parenting sets in motion a renewed experience of “family”. This is a specialized parental restoration and can build an experience of respect in claiming healthier parents. By engaging in this celebration,  a “new” family is born. The individual and their parent stand-ins will be interviewed and a custom service will be crafted around the needs of the individuals involved.

RE-PARENTING – $699.00
This includes 10 personalized invitations, two hours of pre-event instruction, one hour of planning that includes food and music selection and the creation of a guest list. Storytelling

Everyone has a special story that yearns to be unfolded and revealed. In a Storytelling event, individuals are given an opportunity to write out, process the details and tell their story. Usually this special event occurs with a carefully chosen intimate circle of family and friends. Storytelling is a healing and productive experience. When individuals are deeply listened to the life of the individual can be changed forever. Listening is a human act of true compassion. It is not a passive task. Listening takes courage and allows us to share from the heart. As humans we are capable of listening and responding to each other: emotionally, intellectually and communally. In addition we can engage with love and empathy, listening for those things that are unique to the storyteller and for those things that are unifying and connecting to all of human nature.

Birth Story

In a Birth Story event, individuals are given an opportunity to write out, process the details of,  and tell their Birth Story. Usually this special event occurs with a carefully chosen intimate circle of family and friends. A comprehensive Birth Story can help the individual access their early beginnings. This is a healing experience for those willing to explore their Birth Story development. Birth Stories relate to the individual or a woman’s experience giving birth exploring the events surrounding the birth of a child. For some, the Birth Story starts when the individual was conceived and then the story is excavated as it moves forward in time. The Birth Story carves out a chronology of being born a sequencing of things past.  Sharing experiences in a Birth Story can be a healing act.  Constructing the time line of events encourages  a concrete rendering of past woundedness while offering the individual to speak out about their story of being born or the event of giving birth.
